I made a Get Well card today for a little boy named Benjamin using this stamp set Turtle & Co.  He is the son of my husband’s cousin, and is in the hospital with pneumonia and respiratory distress syndrome.  He went on a ventilator this past weekend to help him breathe.  I could only imagine how I would feel if that was my child.  Please keep him in your prayers.

While I was making his card, which I didn’t get a picture of, I decided to make a card using the watercolor with markers technique.  The first thing I did was stamp my turtle using Stazon so that my image would not bleed.  Then I colored the turtle in using a variety of markers (pool party, island indigo, and lucky limeade).  I then used my aquapainter to blend the colors together and create the different hues that you see.  It was surprisingly easy although I did at times get a little too much water on my paper and had to let it dry.  I should note that I used the watercolor paper, not just regular cardstock.  This really helps to create an even looking color on the image.  Just for effect I outlined the turtle using my crumb cake marker and blended the edges with my aquapainter as well, which I know is hard to see in this picture.  For my first attempt I think it turned out cute!  I will definitely be trying this technique more!

I want to mention that when you purchase this stamp set Turtle & Co. $3 of your purchase goes to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This is a wonderful organization that provides a place for families to stay when they have children in the hospital.  If one of my children were in the hospital I would want to be as close to them as I could be.  What a cute set and a great way to support a wonderful charity at the same time! Check out my website and get yours today!

Thanks for stopping by!
