Tulips & the new Blendabilities

It’s mid-May and my tulips are finally blooming in my yard!  I think this is the latest that they have ever bloomed, usually I have tulips by Easter.  I’m happy to see them come up and they are so beautiful to look at, I was inspired to pull out my Blessed Easter stamp and use the tulips to create this card.

I used a fabulous new product on this card called Blendabilities.  They are a new alcohol based marker from Stampin’ Up!  Because these markers are alcohol based you can blend several shades of color together and get beautiful looking results!  They come in a pack of three shades of a light, medium, and dark color to create beautiful depth and dimension on your stamped images.  I used the Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive assortment on my card.  It is important that you use the Memento Ink Pad for stamping your images so that your images don’t bleed when you use the alcohol markers.

tulipsThe last thing I’d like to point out is that the Blendabilities Markers are also great for adding color to your embellishments.  The beautiful ribbon you see on the top of the tag was actually a piece of whisper white taffeta ribbon colored with the medium shade of Old Olive Blendabilities.  The ribbon took the color beautifully and it actually looks like it was always that shade of green!

It’s Tuesday, you know what that means?!  Weekly Deals time!  There are a few of my favorites on the list.  This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper and the Flower Garden Textured Embossing Folder are both products I use often.  You can use the links below to go right to my store.

Project Life – Everyday Adventure

I’m having SO much fun playing around with my new Project Life products by Stampin’ Up! I will admit I had to “let go” a little from my traditional view of scrapbooking, but this system will truly make my scrapbooking so much easier! No more guilt over all those pictures I’ve taken and haven’t done anything with! I can easily make a few pages in an hour or less.

I sat down to try out the new Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection and Accessory Pack that was introduced by Stampin’ Up! on May 1st. I grabbed a couple of photos that I had already printed and created this page using only those products and my Show & Tell Photopolymer stamp sets.

Hardwood & Butterflies

Background stamps are an easy way to add to your card and the Hardwood Background stamp is no exception!  I have been finding it hard not to want to use this stamp on all of my cards recently.  Today’s card is one of the cards designed for my monthly card class. See my tips and tricks for creating this card below.  I will attach a complete supply list below.

woodbutterfly
Card Dimensions:
Whisper White card stock:  8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″
scraps of whisper white for saying & butterflies

Tips for creating this card:

  • There was no need for layers on this card when I stamped the Hardwood Background stamp in Soft Suede Classic Ink.  Background stamps are great for adding depth and dimension to your cards!
  • I wanted the card to have a feminine feel so I grabbed my Tea Lace Paper Doilies for that little touch!  I just added half of a doily to this card.
  • Butterflies stamped in Melon Mambo and Pool Party really brighten up the card. Don’t be afraid to add color!  I used the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and coordinating punches to make these butterflies a breeze to create!
  • Add dimension.  When you have a ‘one layer’ card it’s important to add dimension in other ways.  I achieved that here by using dimensionals to pop up the butterflies and the greeting which was stamped using the hostess exclusive stamp set Express Yourself.
  • Finally I finished off my card with a little flower button in Melon Mambo and a little piece of bakers twine tied in a bow.
