As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I receive a magazine every other month titled Stampin’ Success. This magazine is SO full of great information from stamping trends, card and scrap booking ideas, to business tips! I look forward to getting it every time!
One of the techniques that they featured in this month’s magazine was called reverse masking. All you do is create a template from any shape using a punch or Big Shot die. Use the reverse image (or the paper left not the punched image) on your project and stamp, sponge, or mist over it!
I loved the butterfly card they showed in the Stampin’ Success so much that I used the exact same mask for my card today. The mask was created using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. Once I had the mask created I used some Island Indigo classic ink and sponged over the mask to create the butterfly on my card front. Then I took my background stamp, En Francais, and stamped over the butterfly (still using the mask) with my Island Indigo classic ink.
I added a few extras to my card like the strip of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper onto the bottom, a little flower on the butterfly, some words, and little Pearl Basic Jewels. The effect is stunning and I can’t wait to try it out with different shapes! I’m sure the ladies in my club this month are going to love it too!
Be Creative, Kristin
